Would you like to help shape the DDEA Summer School 2027, expand your national and international network and gain hands-on experience in organising a scientific event?

We are looking for a 2nd- or 3rd-year PhD student to join the Organising Committee for the DDEA Summer School 2027, taking place on 23–26 August 2027 at Gl. Avernæs, Denmark.

As a member of the committee, you will have the opportunity to contribute your ideas and perspectives to the planning of the Summer School and help create an engaging scientific programme for fellow PhD students.

Being part of the Organising Committee gives you an opportunity to contribute to the Summer School while developing skills and connections beyond your own research.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Expand your national and international network by working closely with other researchers and the DDEA team.
• Help shape the scientific programme by contributing ideas for topics and suggesting speakers.
• Gain hands-on experience in organising a scientific event, from programme development and communication to chairing scientific sessions.
• Work closely with researchers and the DDEA team throughout the planning process and gain insight into how an international scientific event is developed and delivered.
• Strengthen your CV with experience in scientific programme development, event organisation and session chairing.

And when the Summer School takes place in August, you will be there to experience what you helped create. As a member of the Organising Committee, you will attend the full Summer School and take part alongside the other PhD students as a regular participant.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a PhD student who:

• is in the 2nd or 3rd year of their PhD
• is affiliated with a Danish or international research institution
• works within diabetes, metabolism or classical endocrinology
• is interested in contributing actively to the planning and delivery of the DDEA Summer School 2027.

What will you be doing?

As a member of the Organising Committee, you will be involved in planning the Summer School together with the other committee members and the DDEA team.

Your tasks will include:

• helping to plan the scientific programme and suggest speakers
• contributing to the promotion and communication of the Summer School
• chairing scientific sessions during the Summer School
• taking part in Organising Committee meetings throughout the planning period.

When and where?

The DDEA Summer School 2027 takes place on 23–26 August 2027 at Gl. Avernæs, Denmark.

The first planning meeting will be held in person in autumn 2026. DDEA will cover your travel expenses related to this meeting.

As a member of the Organising Committee, you are expected to attend the full Summer School. You will participate alongside the other PhD students throughout the event.
