Digital Innovations in Diabetes Care – How Do We Assess the Effects and How Do We Move from Research to Practice?

On 4 December, DDEA Visiting Researcher Brian Oldenburg gave an expert talk on ‘Digital Innovations in Diabetes Care’ at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen.

About Professor Brian Oldenburg

Professor Brian Oldenburg is the director of the Academic and Research Collaborative in Health (ARCH) at La Trobe University at Alfred Hospital, Australia. He holds a joint position as a professor of public health and implementation science at La Trobe University and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Additionally, he serves as the director of the Center for Research Excellence in Digital Technology to Transform Chronic Diseases, which is funded by the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council.

Professor Oldenburg is an expert in Behavioral Medicine and implementation, with a focus on the prevention and management of chronic diseases, particularly cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. His research has contributed to the development and evaluation of mobile health interventions (M-health) and new emerging technology platforms for the prevention and self-management of chronic diseases.

He served as the Principal Investigator for the writing team of the World Health Organization’s monograph on implementation science, “A Practical Guide to Implementation Research for Improving the Prevention and Control of NCDs” (World Health Organization, 2016). He also holds the role of acting senior advisor for the WHO and collaborates with many other international non-governmental organizations and governments.
