Posted on 12.03.2026

The Novo Nordisk Foundation and the Lundbeck Foundation are joining forces in a new funding initiative aimed at advancing our understanding of how the brain and the periphery interact in health and disease.

The call is open to research teams spanning neuroscience and cardiometabolic research, addressing questions that can only be answered through integrated, interdisciplinary approaches.

  • Funding: DKK 15–20 million per project
  • Duration: 5 years
  • Total budget: DKK 100 million

Target Audience

  • Applicants: Danish and European based researchers at all independent career stages.
  • Collaborator: Can be international (i.e. from an institution anywhere in the world) and makes a clear contribution to the project’s aim(s) but receives limited funding. Collaborators are not required to be at an independent career stage.
  • Relevance: This open call aims to improve the mechanistic understanding underlying the observed associations between cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs) and nervous system disorders (NSDs).
