Funding Opportunity: Up to DKK 16 Million for Cardiometabolic Research

Posted on 15.10.2026

The BioInnovation Institute (BII) is inviting researchers to apply for funding to develop innovative therapeutic solutions for cardiometabolic diseases through its Bio Studio programme.

The Cardiometabolic Disease Challenge focuses on new treatment approaches that address the underlying causes of cardiometabolic diseases or help prevent and treat organ complications where existing therapies are insufficient.

The call is aimed at established research group leaders with an entrepreneurial mindset who are interested in translating their research into new therapeutic solutions.

What does the programme offer?

Selected projects can receive up to DKK 16 million over three years, along with access to BII’s facilities, scientific and business development support, and network of investors and industry experts.

The aim is to advance promising research towards the creation of an investment-ready start-up. Principal investigators remain at their home institutions while a dedicated project team works at BII in Copenhagen.

Application deadline: 16 November 2026

Applications are submitted as an Expression of Interest through BII’s online portal.
