Circadian Rhythms Webinar

Circadian Rhythms Webinar

Our internal clocks govern so much of life – sleep, hormones and even long-term health.
This November, we are bringing together experts and enthusiasts to explore circadian rhythms at the interface of neuroscience and endocrinology!

But before the doors open, we invite you to join our Warm-up Webinar Series – two online sessions held in the days leading up to the physical event.

These online webinar sessions are designed as a teaser and preparation for the physical event – giving you the chance to dive into key themes, meet fellow participants early, and arrive in November with a head start!

The webinar series is open for all who are interested, no matter if you participate in the physical event or not – but we of course highly encourage you to join both.

The warm-up webinars are as follows:

Wednesday 8 October at 15:00 – 15:45

Speaker: Manfred Hallschmid, professor, University of Tübingen (DE)

Talk: Sleep and brain insulin signaling in metabolic control and cognitive function

Tuesday 21 October at 15:00 – 15:45

Speaker: Frédéric Gachon, professor, Aarhus University (DK)

Talk: Revisiting the hierarchical organization of central and peripheral circadian clocks

This webinar series is co-organised with Neuroscience Academy Denmark

Speakers:

Manfred Hallschmid, Professor, University of Tübingen (DE)

  • Manfred Hallschmid, PhD, is Professor of Behavioral Neurobiology at the Department of Medical Psychology of the University of Tübingen, Germany. He obtained his PhD in psychology/human biology in 2005 and received awards by the German Society of Psychology, the German Society of Endocrinology, and the German Diabetes Society. Manfred’s primary research area is the central nervous regulation of energy fluxes and glucose homeostasis in humans, with a focus on the role of neuropeptidergic messengers for metabolic control, as well as on the relationship between sleep, food intake and cognition.

Frédéric Gachon, Professor, Aarhus University (DK)

  • Frédéric Gachon received his PhD in 2001 from the University of Montpellier (France) after what he started to work in the field of chronobiology at the University of Geneva. As a group leader in Switzerland and Australia, his group contributed to several breakthrough discoveries related to the regulation of the rhythmic activation of signalling pathway and its impact on physiology, notably through the regulation of ribosome biogenesis and protein trafficking. He has been a Professor at Aarhus University since 2024.

 Organisers:

  • Jonas Salling Quist, Senior Researcher & Associate Professor, Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen and University of Copenhagen (DK)
  • Martin Rath, Professor, University of Copenhagen (DK)
  • Ulla Kampmann, Associate Professor, Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus (DK)

This webinar series is intended for all who are interested in the field of circadian rhythms.

Registration deadline and webinar link
You can register for each webinar up until the day of the webinar. Two hours before the webinar starts, you will receive the webinar link.
