The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) has officially opened applications for its 2025 Early Career Grants Programme. This initiative offers early-career researchers up to £5,000 to conduct a research project over a period of up to one year.
The grants aim to facilitate the development and delivery of their first independent research project. Projects can focus on any area of tropical medicine or global health, including but not limited to:
The programme supports a broad spectrum of research methodologies, encompassing laboratory-based studies, clinical research, translational work, implementation science, and policy-related research. It also accommodates projects that are part of a larger study, provided they constitute a distinct element. While the grants can fund research projects linked to PhD studies, they do not cover tuition fees for PhD or MSc degrees.
The RSTMH Early Career Grants are designed to support researchers who have not previously received research funding of £5,000 or more in their own name.
Applications are welcomed from researchers from anywhere in the world.
Applications must be submitted through RSTMH’s new grants platform, Benefactor. Detailed guidance on using Benefactor, as well as information on the programme’s Terms and Conditions and eligibility criteria, can be found on the RSTMH website.
