You are warmly invited, on 6 November 2024, to an exciting symposium on genetics in endocrinology, with a special focus on pituitary genetics.
Professor Marta Korbonits from London, one of the world’s leading experts in the field, as well as expert Professor Anja Frederiksen from Aalborg and Odense UH, will discuss endocrinological genetics in clinical practice.
Date: 6 November 2025, 16:00–18:00
Location: Cordis/SUND Auditorium, Aalborg UH Øst – Selma Lagerløfts Vej 249, Gistrup
Online participation available via Microsoft Teams here
Please register by sending an email to Frederik Østergaard Klit (f.klit@rn.dk).
16:00–16:10, Welcome
Jakob Dal, Chief Physician and Associate Professor, Dept. of Endocrinology, Aalborg University Hospital
16:10–17:10, Research and the Future of Genetic Studies with a Focus on Pituitary Diseases
Marta Korbonits, Deputy Director and Professor, William Harvey Research Institute, Barts and The London School of Medicine, Queen Mary University of London
How does genetics change the management of patients with pituitary disease? Both germline and somatic changes have been identified in recent years. Understanding their role in tumorigenesis and treatment response is highly relevant, in addition to the benefits for families through early prospective diagnosis.
17:10–17:20
Short break
17:20–17:50, Genetics in Endocrinology: Opportunities and Challenges.
Anja Frederiksen, Professor and Chief Physician, Dept. of Clinical Genetics, Aalborg and Odense University Hospitals
Genetic investigations are becoming an essential part of endocrinology. This presentation will outline the opportunities genetics provide for diagnosis, prognosis, and patient management, while also addressing the current challenges and limitations in translating genetic findings into clinical practice.
17:50–18:00, Discussion and Closing Remarks
If you plan to attend in person, please register before 5 November 2025 by sending an email to Frederik Østergaard Klit (f.klit@rn.dk).
