Type 1 diabetes is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases. The disease places a lifelong burden on the patient and the immediate family and triggers significant societal costs.
Through the early detection of people at risk of type 1 diabetes, there is a prospect that new drugs can delay, and in the long term perhaps completely stop, the development of the disease. Establishing screening programs is a critical task and currently constitutes a bottleneck for the identification of persons at risk and thus also for the development of new medicines.
The Swedish/Danish DiaUnion 1.5 research project aims to create the necessary infrastructure for detecting type 1 diabetes in southern Sweden and Denmark.
The symposium is open to scientists, health professionals, industry, health politicians, patients/relatives and others with an interest in type 1 diabetes.
