Local and Global Perspectives
Obesity is an increasing problem that affects people and societies globally. Each year more and more people are diagnosed with diseases directly linked to obesity and the interest in developing successful prevention and treatment methods is on the rise.
We therefore invite you to join us for a two-day symposium in the Faroe Islands that will cover questions about genetic causes, prevention and treatment of obesity ranging from a local Faroese to a global perspective.
The symposium will facilitate knowledge-sharing and collaboration among experts, enhancing participants’ ability to manage and address obesity’s complex challenges on multiple fronts.
This two-day symposium aims to support participants in addressing intricate challenges in obesity research and treatment, emphasising both genetic and lifestyle approaches. The symposium will facilitate an in-depth overview of the distinct problems and progress in obesity management in the Faroe Islands relative to other nations, including insights on genetic, lifestyle, and pharmaceutical interventions.
Specialists from Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the Faroe Islands will conduct sessions addressing genetic factors in obesity, precision strategies for adiposity, lifestyle interventions like “Football as Medicine,” and modern pharmacological and surgical therapies.
Participants will acquire skills through interactive sessions to support the development of targeted treatment strategies and manage interventions for diverse patient populations, including children, adolescents, and adults.
Organised networking sessions will promote professional interaction and provide opportunities to expand your professional network and seek out possible future collaborators within different scientific fields as well as across national and international borders during
You are invited to present your research at the symposium. At the end of day 1 there will be a poster session. All who have signed up with an abstract will do a 1-minute pitch of their poster and present their research in a poster session. More information will follow after the registration deadline.
