DDEA’s newly funded early-career researchers are invited to kick-start their networking with DDEA at the Start-up Meeting for New Grant Recipients!
On the first evening, you will gather to learn how DDEA can support you, and for dinner and networking. Then, the following day, you will begin with a unique communication workshop in the morning. After lunch, you will have the chance to network through tours of your scientific projects, learn about expectations, and share ideas for new activities.
Throughout the meeting, you will network with DDEA staff and fellow grantees and gain an understanding of the organisation and its education, networking, collaboration-building and communication activities.
The Start-up Meeting for New DDEA Grant Recipients provides participants with greater knowledge about DDEA and how DDEA supports them through its education, networking and communication activities. The meeting also allows participants the opportunity to connect with other DDEA grantees, learning about their research projects and interests. In addition, the participants will immerse themselves in a specially planned, creative communication workshop.

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 1 November 2024 at 23:59
Please submit an abstract of your project and plan to bring a scientific poster presenting that project.
After lunch we will have two hours for project poster presentations and scientific networking. As you all are new to your projects, we do not expect traditional scientific abstracts and posters. Instead, we kindly ask you to prepare an abstract describing the rationale and aims of your project and an A1-sized “project poster.” You will use this poster for talking points, pitching, and discussing your project with the other participants.
Posters will be pitched in a “poster tour” format. This means that all participants will visit all multiple posters together. When the tour group arrives at your poster, you will have 2 min to pitch the key points of your project to the group. After all pitches are complete, there will be time to discuss freely. Please note that no slides will be used for the pitches. Pitches take place with a group standing at your poster.
Abstract guidelines:
The abstract should be max 1500 characters, incl. spaces and written in Arial 10.
Please do not include images, figures, charts or tables in the summary. Proofread carefully before sending, and upload a Word file and use your name in the file name.
Poster guidelines:
Size of poster: A1, portrait format
Your project poster should look like a traditional scientific poster, but it will lack results and conclusions sections. You can (and should) include:
project summary with 1) background and rationale, 2) project aims, 3) methods (if you already have ideas for these), 4) anticipated outcomes and impact from the project, and 5) take-home message box so that you leave the audience with the key message.
