DDEA Annual Day 2025

DDEA Annual Day 2025

Celebrating Excellence in Diabetes, Metabolism and Endocrinology Research

Mark your calendars for the DDEA Annual Day–when endocrinology and related research fields come together and celebrate a year of excellent science with DDEA!

We invite you to be inspired by scientific talks pitched for a broad audience ranging from classical endocrinology to inflammation and obesity, to expand your network across fields and sectors, and to present your research through lively poster pitches and a poster session.

When you register for the event, you can also nominate a scientist who you believe deserves to receive one of the three prestigious DDEA awards for their contribution to the DDEA in 2024. Then, join us on the Annual Day to find out who will win these awards, and to learn about their success stories.

The DDEA Annual Day is a celebration of the high-quality research in diabetes, metabolism and classical endocrinology in Denmark and abroad.

This networking event programme consists of several scientific presentations from prominent scientists in the morning, a poster session after lunch to help you expand your professional network, an awards ceremony at the end of the day before cozy networking and socialising around a bonfire. There will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the day with new and old colleagues in an informal setting.

JOIN THE ANNUAL DAY WITH AN ABSTRACT & POSTER

The DDEA Annual Day will include poster presentations. All researchers, especially early career researchers,  are warmly welcome and encouraged to submit an abstract for a poster presentation.

Abstracts will be reviewed and selected for poster presentation after the registration & abstract submission deadline and participants will be notified if their abstract is accepted for poster presentation.

In addition, all participants with abstracts accepted for poster presentation will be asked to pitch their poster before the poster session.

Please note that there will be awards for the three best posters:
1st Prize: 3,000 DKK
2nd Prize: 2,000 DKK
3rd Prize: 1,500 DKK

DDEA will set up an evaluation process with specific criteria to determine the poster award winners (further information will follow prior to the event).

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 15 December 2024.

DANISH DIABETES AND ENDOCRINE ACADEMY AWARDS

On the DDEA Annual Day, the DDEA will recognise excellence, innovation, passion and commitment in Danish diabetes and classical endocrinology research and education.

Therefore, the DDEA calls for nominations for:

The Early-Career Researcher Awards are presented to two individual early-career researchers (from Danish research institutions) who each has shown promising research and great potential to be world-class researchers within their fields of expertise and who each has made an important contribution to the understanding and treatment of diabetes and classical endocrine diseases . The two awards will be presented to: one early-career researcher within diabetes and one early-career researcher within classical endocrinology.

The DDEA Research Education and Networking Award is presented to a national or international researcher (at any point of her/his career) who, on multiple occasions, has contributed to improvements of the DDEA and/or the Danish Diabetes Academy (DDA) activities within education, talent development, networking and/or collaboration, in the form of suggesting, encouraging and disseminating new or improved models for research education and networking. Thus, enhancing the knowledge and competences of early-career researchers and/or supporting networking and collaboration among early-career researchers.

The award will pay tribute to the voluntary work carried out by researchers within DDEA and/or DDA, and potential candidates may have been involved in programme development, organisation of activities or direct teaching within DDEA and/or DDA.

The winners must be able to attend the award ceremony at the DDEA Annual Day.

Further information about the specific requirements for each award, evaluation and how to nominate a candidate can be found at the links above.

Nomination deadline is 22 October 2024.
