Newsletter October 2022

We are so happy to have launched series 2 of ‘Postdocs Talking’, the podcast that strives to connect diabetes and metabolism research to society. The topics of this series so far are: diabetes in sub-Saharan Africa, elite athletes with type 1 diabetes, glucagon, fat tissue and obesity, and open science – with more topics to come down the line. Tune in on our website or on your preferred podcast platform.
It was wonderful to see all the participating postdocs engage in interesting talks, poster sessions, networking, and various social events at the DDA Postdoc Summit 2022 last week. This year’s Postdoc Summit Challenge focuses on the postdoc experience. The challenge output has previously led to the production of series 1 of our podcast, and this year, the output will be short, animated videos. The groups of postdocs delivered scripts and storyboards, which we have now sent to an animation company that will create the animations. We are very excited to see and share the final results. Read more about the Postdoc Summit Challenge.
With a nomination deadline of October 24, it is time to get to nominating, if you wish to see a talented researcher you know win a DDA Award at the DDA Annual Day 2022. We give out three awards at the event: The DDA-Funded Scientist Award, the Young Investigator Award, and the brand new DDA Research Education and Networking Award. Read more about the awards and how to nominate.
We are looking for members to join the Committee for Education or the Advisory Board of the new Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy (DDEA). Both are groups of scientific professionals that will provide expert advice to guide DDEA’s strategy within our four activity areas: education and talent development, networking and collaboration, grants, and communications and outreach. Learn more and apply.
All the best,
Tore Christiansen
