The DDA Executive Management Team is beginning to feel Christmas peace. At the same time, we are looking back on many good moments in 2019 and starting to look ahead to 2020.

When we announce who have received the DDA grants – most recently on 5 December 2019 – I always have mixed feelings even though it is a day to celebrate, which we off course also do. There is no doubt that the researchers who receive a grant are extremely qualified and their applications have been evaluated by the international reviewers to be of high international standard. However, this is actually also the case for many of the researchers who receive a rejection to their application. This is evident when looking at their grades and the comments given by the international reviewers. Thus, I understand their disappointment when they need to change their plans for the future. Fortunately, we still have two more rounds of applications in 2020 – the first one with deadline on 6 February 2020.

I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and I hope to see you all at one of our educational or networking activities in 2020.
