To obtain funding from DDEA for an education or networking event, the following prerequisites must be met:

Applicant eligibility criteria

• The applicant(s) must be employed at a Danish research institution

Event requirements

• The topic of the event must be within diabetes, metabolism or classical endocrine research fields
• The event must have a clear aim, objective(s) and learning outcome(s)
• The event must involve national and international research groups and create a collaborative atmosphere (defined as including participants from at least two research groups from diabetes, metabolism or classical endocrine research in Denmark and preferably also one from abroad)
• The event must take place in Denmark
• The event must take place in 2025

The funding granted by DDEA may be used to cover all or part of the following expenses related to the event:

• Travel for national and international speakers, including hotel accommodation, flight, train and taxi (economy class), in accordance with the currently applicable rules of Odense University Hospital regarding accommodation, meals and travel (further information will be provided in a grant notification letter upon a positive decision for funding)
• Conference room booking
• Food and drinks during the meeting including lunch, dinner, and breaks at the conference venue or take-away restaurant/catering service
• Printing of materials, such as the programme, abstract book, name tags etc.

The following expenses will not be covered by the funding granted by DDEA:

• Honoraria for speakers
• Expenses related to prizes and awards
• Travel and accommodation for participants
• Logistical and organisational support from DDEA

The application must be submitted online via DDEA’s grant website and must include the following (max. 3 pages):

1. The event title
2. A description of the event and event format
3. A description of the target group of participants, including research areas and geographical distribution
4. The aim, objectives and learning outcomes of the event
5. A description of how the event will facilitate collaborations involving national and international research groups
6. An itemised budget (using this budget template) with justification, specifying how funding from DDEA will be used and any additional funding sources for the event. We recommend that events are not solely supported by this funding mechanism.
7. Prospective plans for future events as a result of reaching the goals of this event
8. The names and affiliations of the organisers

The DDEA Secretariat and the Chair of the DDEA Committee for Education will process and review all applications received by the deadline.

Applications will be assessed on the conditions stated above and prioritised according to budget and topics that complement the 2025 events programme (available soon on the DDEA website)

Applicants will receive a decision from the DDEA Secretariat within 1 month of the application deadline.

DDEA reserves the right to reject an application due to administrative reasons or prioritisation.

• You will use the funding only as awarded for the event.
• You will plan the event for the time period for which the funding was awarded. If the event must be postponed to a subsequent time period, you must forfeit the funding to DDEA, unless an agreement with DDEA is reached.
• You will open the event and announce it broadly, including to potential participants outside of your own organisation.
• You will clearly credit DDEA in all announcements, social media posts, and event material by name, logo, link, or hashtag, depending on the media
• You will provide DDEA with participant statistics, a participant evaluation and an accounting statement including all expenses covered by the grant from DDEA, along with a short description of the outcome of the event, at the latest 4 weeks after the execution of the event (further information will be provided in a grant notification letter upon a positive decision for funding).
• You will return any unused DDEA funding to DDEA.
