DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Most PhD graduates do not stay in academia, but at some point in their career transition to other sectors, such as industry, healthcare, or public organisations. This event for academic postdocs and PhD students aims to inspire and support a potential transition to industry through four themes:

  • Career paths: Speakers with a PhD degree will be sharing their career paths beyond academia, including learnings about career choices, competences, and job tasks and responsibilities.
  • Meet the companies: 10 Danish and Swedish companies employing PhD graduates present themselves to smaller assigned groups of participants and answer the group’s questions. 2 x 5 sessions in break-out rooms, 5 priorities are selected at registration, but you will only meet 3 companies. The companies are also present during the lunch and coffee breaks for informal chats.
  • Collaborations and intellectual property: In research, it is essential to be able to collaborate across disciplines and across organisations, such as between companies and universities. The role of intellectual property in collaborations will be explained from academic and entrepreneurial experiences.
  • Corporate recruitment processes: A recruitment expert will provide insights and answers around applying for jobs in companies, including what companies look for, building a good CV, and the recruitment process in practice.
