This DDEA Symposium brings together clinical,  basic, and translational scientists, at all career levels, engaged or interested in extracellular vesicles (EV). We aim to facilitate increased awareness of both the prospects and the limitations of extracellular vesicles in the clinical audience, and to highlight endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism as future areas of interest in EV-related research.

TIME & PLACE

Date: 1-2 June 2023
Place: Comwell Hvide Hus, Vesterbro 2, 9000 Aalborg, Denmark

WHO CAN ATTEND?

This symposium is intended for clinical practitioners and researchers, basic as well as translational researchers, at all career levels,  engaged or interested in extracellular vesicles (EVs) or in any field of diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism.

Participants are selected on a first come, first served basis; however, participants who submitted an abstract are prioritised as attendees in the event the symposium becomes overbooked.

Please note, that you are not guaranteed a seat at the symposium if you do not meet the target group requirements. Priority is given to participants employed at Danish research and health institutions or in the life science industry, but a number of seats are reserved for participants employed at research and health institutions or in the life science industry abroad. If the event is overbooked, the DDEA reserves its right to select participants based on the defined requirements.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

EV research is a new research field with the potential to generate a paradigm shift in the current understanding of pathophysiological mechanisms along with a huge biomarker potential. This symposium brings together researchers from several fields to exchange perspectives on some of these topics. The symposium will provide an introduction to EVs in endocrinology and metabolism, combining clinical and EV approaches in fetal programming, cellular crosstalk, and diabetes and metabolism. In addition, workshops will facilitate expansion of clinical EV research by introducing participants to methodological aspects and handling of big data from EV analyses. Finally, early career researchers will present in poster and oral settings. Altogether, our aim is to support future networking and collaboration across disciplines within the EV field.
