Diabetes Research Symposium: Digital Health & Self-Management - Online

This 2-day symposium will introduce you to current research and evidence-based clinical work within digital health and self-management in diabetes. Focus areas are glucose management, and prevention and treatment of diabetes complications.
PhD students have the opportunity to present a poster and receive constructive feedback on their work by senior researchers in field.

Time and place
Date: 27-28 May 2021
Venue: The symposium will be held online via zoom. Registered participants will recieve a link prior to the symposium.
Who can attend?
The symposium is directed to PhD students (2 ECTS) and clinicians as well as people working with or having an interest in diabetes research. A certain number of seats are reserved for PhD students.
Please note, that you are not guaranteed a seat at the symposium if you do not meet the target group requirements.
Participants are selected on a first come, first served basis.
Detailed description
This year’s symposium focuses on digital health and self-management in diabetes with respect to glucose management, and prevention and treatment of diabetes complications.
You will gain insight in:
- research conducted in the field
- how medical doctors and nurses apply evidence in the clinic
- best practice and methods used by students in the field
The following areas are covered:
- self-management of type 2 diabetes
- diabetes technologies
- mobile applications in diabetes
- diabetes eye diseases
- macrovascular complications
- gastroenterology in diabetes
- the diabetes foot
PhD students are expected to submit an abstract and present a poster. During the poster sessions, you get the possibility to discuss your own research with experts in the field.

Registration & submission of abstracts
Deadline for registration: 6 May 2021 - should you wish to register after the deadline, please email nina.jensen4@rsyd.dk.
Deadline for submission of abstracts (only for PhD students): 17 May 2021
For PhD students, who wish to obtain ECTS points, it is mandatory to submit an abstract and present a poster at the symposium.
IMPORTANT: If you wish to receive the credit of 2.0 ECTS, please also register at the website of The Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology.
Format of abstract and poster
The abstract should be max 1500 characters incl. spaces and written in Arial 10.

Poster size:
Maximum length: 150 cm

Additional information
Lunch reimbursement
DDA will reimburse you for lunch at the two symposium days. You will recieve details on what can be reimbursed after registration.
Certification
A course certificate will be sent to PhD students after the course. Full participation, including abstract submission and poster presentation, and submission of the course evaluation form is required to attain 2 ECTS points.

No-show fee
It is free of charge to participate in the course, however, the doctoral school will charge a no-show fee of 3000 DKK if you do not show up and have not unregistered from the course no later than 2 weeks prior to its start. Registered illness is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days.
